Commencement Bank, Tacoma Venues & Events, and Nourish Pierce County, along with generous local sponsors and volunteers, are putting on the first annual Hams for the Holidays at the Tacoma Dome. This event will provide ham (and limited ham alternatives) to families experiencing food insecurities this holiday season. The event was inspired by the increased need for food assistance across Pierce County and will replicate the drive-thru turkey distribution event before Thanksgiving, which was spearheaded by the Tacoma Police Department.

“As one of the remaining local banks headquartered in Pierce County, we are continually looking for ways to support our communities,” said John E. Manolides, Commencement Bank’s Chief Executive Officer. “We participated as a sponsor for the Thanksgiving turkey drive last year and were overwhelmed by the hundreds of cars waiting to receive help with their holiday meal. Since there was not an event like this surrounding the other holidays this season, we stepped up with a goal of distributing 1,000 hams. Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Tacoma Dome, Nourish Pierce County, and our clients who sponsored Hams for the Holidays, we exceeded our goal and will feed over 2,000 families this year alone.”

Participants in need of a ham this holiday season are encouraged to sign up on Eventbrite by searching Commencement Bank Hams for the Holidays and registering online. They may also follow the link listed with this release or scan the QR code below. The event will take place on Thursday, December 19ᵗʰ in the Tacoma Dome’s Parking Lot G from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm (or while supplies last).

The bank would like to give a special thank you their largest supporters: Jody Miller Construction, A.C. Moate Industries, Motors NW, CTE Logistics, Peninsula Properties, and Zumar.
